Check in is between 2pm and 4pm Sunday. As you leave the village of Cimarron on Hwy. 21, you will soon enter Philmont’s property.

Continue along the highway until you pass the Ranch Administration area. Then look to your left for the “Philmont Training Center” sign. Catch a glimpse of the Villa Philmonte on your right as you drive up Orchard Circle. You will soon be met by Philmont staff at the “Welcome Wagon” as you enter the PTC. They will direct you to your assigned Tent City. Once parked, Tent City staff will check you in to your conference, direct you to the location to meet the conference faculty, and inform you where to turn in your medical forms.

The rest of your afternoon is family time. Move into your tent, relax, enjoy Philmont’s museums, head to the Trading Post, or check out the village of Cimarron. After dinner, you are encouraged to attend a worship service at Camping Headquarters (services are offered there every night at 7) or a non-denominational service at the PTC Chapel. At 7:30pm, Philmont Staff will introduce themselves and lead an entertaining opening campfire for the conference.

Your first full day at Philmont will have exciting opportunities to meet your groups and plan activities. After breakfast, your children will meet with their Program Counselors on the Greensward and all other adults will gather at the Assembly Hall for a quick orientation meeting. Be sure to wear your Scout uniform, as pictures are taken for family groups as well as conference groups. After the orientation, spouses will meet to learn about their activities, while the conference participants head to their classrooms for the start of a great week.

After dinner, the Craft Center will be open for your family to visit and explore, and an Ice Cream Social will be held on the Greensward.

After dropping your kids off with their Program Counselors on the Greensward and your Spouse ventures off to do their activities, head back to your conference room for another great day of learning and discussions. Gather in the evening for a Buffalo Barbeque and Western Night! Full of Western games, branding, and Western dancing, it’ll be fun for everyone! Be sure to bring your Western duds!

Wednesday is family day! Conferences are planned to give the afternoon off to spend with your family. Hikes, tours, shooting sports, and horse rides are all available during the afternoon for the whole family. In the evening, it is Movie Night!

On Thursday, return to your classrooms as conferences resume! Some of our program groups enjoy activities away from the PTC and may eat their lunch on the trail. Thursday night is the second night of the Craft Center, to finish up your projects, and Cobbler Night will be held at the Tent City Office for a late night dessert.

The last day of conferences and family program, Friday will be celebrated with a Conference Graduation for all attendees. Everyone will receive their conference certificates, and children and spouses will receive patches commemorating their time at Philmont. In the evening, enjoy a closing campfire that all family program groups and conferences will have a chance to participate in.

It’s time to pack up, say goodbye to your new Philmont friends, and head home taking your newfound skills and knowledge with you to share.
