The MPS team is responsible for capturing, preserving and sharing the stories, images, and videos of Philmont.

Content and Publications Manager

This content and publishing role at Philmont Scout Ranch is a dynamic position that requires a unique blend of creativity, project management, and communication skills. This seasonal position involves developing and overseeing content strategy across various platforms. The Content and Publications Manager will produce, review, edit, and manage content for websites, social media, and print publications, while also mentoring and guiding a team of writers and designers. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the MPS team, adhering to content requirements for social media platforms, sourcing marketing photos, and utilizing Adobe Creative Suite applications to complete publishing assignments. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment. A background in or knowledge of graphic design is highly recommended.

Social Media Micro Influencers
As a Social Media Micro Influencer at Philmont Scout Ranch, you will have the opportunity to create engaging content and promote our brand to a wider audience. You will work closely with our MPS managers to develop and execute creative content that resonate with our target market. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about the outdoors, Scouting, and Philmont and strong interest in social media engagement

Portrait Photographers – Still in Need of a Second 
We are also looking for two talented Portrait Photographers to elevate our Crew Photos and capture other quality portraits. As a Portrait Photographer, you will be responsible for taking high-quality portraits of our participants and staff, as well as environmental and studio product photography. This is an exciting opportunity for photographers who have a keen eye for detail and a passion for working with their photo subject.

  • Portfolios should include no more than 50 images. It’s great to include landscape photos, though images that demonstrate your ability to capture people enjoying active sports or outdoor activities will help your portfolio stand out.

Marketing & Publications

The marketing and publications teams work together to manage Philmont’s social media, website, the PhilNews and other promotional needs. They tell Philmont’s story! Philmont engages with its community via mulitple active social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and LinkedIn. The PhilNews is Philmont’s in-house news source that writes stories for internal and external distribution. Staff should be familiar with the Adobe Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and Illustrator. All staff should also needs to meet Philmont’s Backcountry hiking requirements.

Photography

Photographers are responsible for capturing the magic of Philmont! Through taking marketing and journalistic photos they develop skills that will help them improve their portfolio. Photographers take crew photos as well as hike through the backcountry capturing crews and staff participating in program activities.

Applicants should know how to use a Digital SLR camera and must meet Philmont’s backcountry hiking requirements.

Videography

Armed with professional equipment, write, shoot and edit promotional videos for Philmont. Staff will explore Philmont’s backcountry to get the perfect shots.
