Camping and Outdoor Program Committee Administration

The Camping and Outdoor Program Committee (COPC) is a critical leadership group entrusted with the responsibility of safely delivering the adventure and growth that youth and adults expect and that lead to self-discovery and character development. Since successful camping and outdoor activities are key determinants of an active and satisfied Scouting community it is a Council imperative that the committee operates effectively across the entire breadth of operations. This course provides the perspective and practical tools to the Council COPC members. Participants will learn the best approaches to matching programs with the diverse youth and family populations we serve, effective marketing tools that inspire outdoorism, integrating an array of specialty programs that support popular outdoor activities, evaluation of camp facilities and properties and financial planning and assessment. The course will present strategic planning and financial assessment tools, programmatic drivers that inspire youth and adults, business based assessment of properties and join use opportunities between Council, region and national camping resources. The end product is Outstanding Programs that attract all participants to Outstanding Properties and Camps equipped to meet ever increasing diverse expectations.
