Land Management

Historically, maintaining and improving the backcountry has represented the focus of our Conservation Department. Recently, we’ve started taking on more natural resource management responsibilities. We have begun to put an increasing amount of our time and resources into projects such as timber stand improvement, erosion control, habitat improvement, watershed restoration, and environmental education.

Wildlife Management

In cooperation with both state and government agencies, Philmont manages a wide range of game animals including bears, mule deer, elk, mountain lions, and turkeys.
