Cito Hike

Come climb some real rock at one of Philmont’s backcountry climbing camps, Cimarroncito! You will get dropped off at Cimarroncito Turnaround and then hike 4.8 miles to Cimarroncito. Your family can choose to boulder in Cimarroncito’s indoor bouldering gym, take a chance at climbing the Traverse Wall, and/or weather dependent climb on Cimarroncito’s rocks (located a .5 mile hike up switchbacks from Cimarroncito camp). The 360-degree view atop Cimarroncito rocks makes it all worth it. This 10.6-mile roundtrip is strenuous, and families should plan on the physicality of rock climbing. This hike is led by Philmont Staff.

Please remember to bring:

●     3 liters of water

●     Snack food - Philmont will provide a Trail-Meal Lunch

●     Rain gear

●     Extra layers (as New Mexico weather is always likely to surprise us)

●     Sunscreen
