Philmont History Hike

Are you interested in learning about Philmont history from the days of the dinosaur to the first humans in the area? This day will begin with a 2-mile hike to the T-Rex Track and then a 1.7-mile hike to Indian Writings for a lesson and tour about the petroglyphs of the early inhabitants of the North Ponil Canyon. This 7.4-mile round trip hike is moderate with flat trail, and participants should expect high temperatures in the North Ponil Canyon. A trail meal lunch will be provided for participants. This hike is led by Philmont Staff.

Please remember to bring:

●     3 liters of water

●     Snack food – Philmont will provide a Trail-Meal Lunch

●     Rain gear

●     Extra layers (as New Mexico weather is always likely to surprise us)

●     Sunscreen and hat
