Certified Angling Instructor Course

A CAI, Certified Angling Instructor, “Delivers the Promise” to our Scouts via Fishing. Cub Scouts, ScoutsBSA and Venturing youth find fishing as one of their top outdoor activities, but many councils are not taking advantage of this fact. Fishing is a great Recruitment and Retention activity, which also is a Gateway for Girls in Scouting. You can join over 1,300 CAIs who are now delivering to units, councils plus region and national fishing programs with great success. This course focuses on teaching you how to teach fishing to Scouts in a meaningful way, from cane polls to fly-fishing, fly Tying, Knots, and Games etc. Enjoy Philmont in the fall, experience the art of fly-fishing on these legendary wild trout waters and become a BSA Certified Angling Instructor (Training Code CS-61).
