Daily Overview

Welcome to Philmont! Philmont Staff will greet you at the Welcome Wagon between 2:00 and 4:00pm where a preliminary wellness-check will take place. From there you will be directed to the appropriate location to check-in for housing assignments, receive your name tags, and go over schedules. Conference participants will have the opportunity to meet their faculty at check-in. 

Attend the evening flag ceremony followed by dinner. Occasionally, there will be two Dining Hall shifts to accommodate participant attendance. Please refer to your name tag for your assigned shift. 

At 7:15pm, head to the PTC Program Bowl for the Opening Program, conducted by Philmont staff!

After breakfast, participants will meet Philmont Staff on the Greensward (the grassy area southeast of the Villa Philmonte) at 8:15am to attend their adventure activity. Small Fry children will meet at the Small Fry Center.

Unless Family Adventure participants are on a full-day adventure, families will return to the PTC before lunch around 11:30am.

Mornings and afternoons will be full of engaging content and experienced instructors to learn best practices and grow their skills!

After lunch, participants will meet Philmont Staff on the Greensward (the grassy area southeast of the Villa Philmonte) at 1:15am to attend their adventure activity. Small Fry children will meet at the Small Fry Center.

Following everyone’s return around 4:30pm, we will have our flag ceremony and dinner. Every evening Philmont staff will have a fun activity planned for you and your family to participate in – including Western Night, Cobbler Night, Movie Night, and more!

First Half Week Family Adventure Participants

On Wednesday morning, we have to say goodbye to our first half-week Family Adventure participants. Breakfast will be available at normal times; this will be the last provided meal at Philmont. We ask that attendees please move out of their housing by 10am. If you are staying in a terrace tent, please make sure you have all your items. If you are staying in the luxury deluxe tents or roofed housing, please strip beds and pile sheets and towels inside next to the door. First Half Week Participants are not able to participate in the Wednesday morning Family Adventure Program.

Full Week Family Adventure & Conference Attendees

After breakfast, participants will meet Philmont Program Staff on the Greensward at 8:15am to attend their adventure activity or meet their Conference Youth program groups. Small Fry children will meet at the Small Fry Center.

Unless Family Adventure participants are on a full-day adventure, families will return to the PTC before lunch around 11:30am. Conference attendees will have a full morning of engaging content!

Afternoon activities for Family Adventure participants will meet Philmont Program Staff on the Greensward at 1:15pm to attend their chosen adventure activity.

Wednesday Afternoon for Conference Attendees is Family Free Time, where attendees will have an afternoon off to spend program time with their family! 

Following everyone’s return around 4:30pm, we will have our flag ceremony and dinner. Every evening Philmont staff will have a fun activity planned for you and your family to participate in – including Western Night, Cobbler Night, and even a Movie Night!

Second Half Week Family Adventure Participants & Conference Attendees

Check-in for Family Adventure 2nd Half Week Session and 2nd Half Week Training Center Conferences take place between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Philmont Training Center. Philmont. Staff will greet you at the Welcome Wagon between 2:00 and 4:00pm where a preliminary wellness-check will take place. From there you will be directed to the appropriate location to check-in for housing assignments, receive your name tags, and go over schedules. Conference participants will have the opportunity to meet their faculty at check-in. 

A Family Adventure Program Orientation begins at 4:30pm where Family Adventure and 1will learn about procedures and sign up for activities. Philmont staff will be present to answer questions and give more details on each activity.

Following everyone’s return around 4:30pm, we will have our flag ceremony and dinner. Every evening Philmont staff will have a fun activity planned for you and your family to participate in – including Western Night, Cobbler Night, Movie Night, and more!

At 7:30pm, join in a fun welcoming activity, hosted by Philmont staff!

After breakfast participants will meet the Philmont Program Staff on the Greensward (the grassy area southeast of the Villa Philmonte) at 8:15am to attend the adventure activity the family signed up for or meet their Conference Youth program groups. Small Fry children will meet at the Small Fry.

For the Training Center Conference Attendees, they will break out into their classes and keep on learning and growing in the mornings and afternoons! 

Afternoon activities will meet the Philmont Program Staff on the Greensward at 1:15pm to attend the adventure activity the family signed up for or meet their Conference Youth program groups. Small Fry children will meet at the Small Fry Center.

Following everyone’s return around 4:30pm, we will have our flag ceremony and dinner. Every evening Philmont staff will have a fun activity planned for you and your family to participate in – including Western Night, Cobbler Night, Movie Night, and more!

Friday night there will be a fun, commemorative, closing program to celebrate the time here at Philmont! 

Saturday is time to pack up, say adios to your Philmont friends, and head home. Breakfast will be available at normal times; this will be the last meal provided by Philmont. We ask that you please move out of your housing by 10am and please stop by the Main Office to receive your medical forms and patch if you have not already received them at our closing program! If you are staying in a terrace tent, please make sure you have all your items. If you are staying in the Luxury Deluxe Tents or roofed housing, please strip beds and pile sheets and towels next to the door. Safe travels and see you next time!

Departure

Please plan to depart by 10am on Wednesday or Saturday depending on your departure date. Since most conference weeks have capacity attendance, it is not possible to stay additional nights. Individuals with late bus or train departures on Saturday can be accommodated temporarily. Please move all your belongings to East Tent City or the PTC Pavilion at checkout time. 

Religious Services

Available during the summer camping season (June – August). Chaplains from the Catholic, Latter-day Saints, Jewish, and Protestant faiths conduct nightly services at Camping Headquarters at 7:00pm and are open to all participants. Non-denominational services will be scheduled at the Philmont Training Center Chapel during sunrise or sunset throughout the summer, services will vary by week. Other religious organizations and services may be available in the town of Cimarron for you to attend. MORE INFO
