Philmont Disaster Relief

In the summer of 2018, 27,000 acres of Philmont were damaged in the Ute Park Fire. Over 57 miles of backcountry trails, 21 trail camps and 5 staffed camp areas were impacted. Philmont’s landscape is our most challenging asset to replace, and work to restore and protect it is our greatest investment.

BSA Family Adventure Camp

BSA Family Adventure Camp is a  chance to experience the Philmont Scout Ranch like never before! Open to all registered members of the BSA and their families, you will have a chance to participate in all of the incredible activities offered at Philmont and make memories with your family that will last a lifetime.

2020 Expedition Openings

Occasionally, there are vacant slots for upcoming summer treks (because crews drop out, etc.). These slots provide an opportunity for crews to register less than 18 months before their trek, understanding that they must operate on an accelerated schedule to fully prepare for their trek.

Working at Philmont

Philmont hires more than 1,100 summer staff to support backcountry programs, food service, retail operations, the Philmont Training Center, maintenance, conservation, ranching, medical services and administrative positions.

The STEM Trek is an exciting program for Scouts and Venturers who have an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Autumn Adventure

Hiking in the Philmont backcountry during the autumn season, crews will enjoy warm, sunny days, and cool, crisp nights.

Winter Adventure

Cold-weather camping is the ultimate test of your ability to camp and travel in the backcountry and learn to live in harmony with the environment.
