The Templeton Canyon Fire is located on the Chase Ranch, adjacent to Philmont Scout Ranch. The fire was discovered on the evening of July 22 at approximately 6:15 PM and is estimated at 2 to 5 acres.

The fire is not on Philmont property. No Philmont participants, staff, or programs are affected, and operations continue as normal.

Smoke may be visible from Cimarron and the surrounding area.

Philmont and Cimarron Volunteer Fire Departments responded along with New Mexico State Forestry. We are grateful for all personnel working this fire and for their safety as they continue to protect our communities.
