The Philmont Training Center has conference rooms for groups of 4 – 400+ guests with flexible configuration and setup. Each conference room is equipped with a 70-inch flatscreen TV or HDMI capable projector. Each room has wifi (speeds may be slower than you are accustomed to due to remote location), chairs and tables. Many of our rooms feature whiteboards and bulletin boards. Please contact us to discuss your needs and we will find the room or rooms that fit your needs.
The Philmont Training Center offers spacious wall tents for all of its participants. Each tent has windows, 1 set of power outlets, 2 cots, a chair, and a light.
The Philmont Training Center is excited to offer Deluxe Tents for families and guests to use during their stay for an additional fee. These tents offer room for 6 with electricity and a ceiling fan. In the main room is a queen-sized bed with upgraded linens and in the side room are 2 sets of bunk beds.
Philmont’s spectacular shower houses are made up of self-contained private stalls. Each room has a shower, a sink, a mirror, and a toilet. There are 4 main shower houses, 2 in each Tent City. Each Tent City also has larger Family showers to help those with small children.
Coin-operated washers and dryers are available 24 hours a day. There is a change machine inside the laundry room, and detergent is available at the Tooth of Time Traders.
Participant/Faculty Mail should be addressed to:
Your Conference and Week
Philmont Training Center
17 Deer Run Road
Cimarron, NM 87714
Outgoing mail is picked up at about 10 A.M. from the mailbox outside the Training Center registration office on Monday through Saturday. During the summer, incoming mail is delivered to a mailbox in your tent city office. Postcards are for sale at the Tooth of Time Traders and the National Scouting Museum, and stamps are for sale at the PTC Registration Office. Parcels should be shipped via U.S. mail, FedEx, or UPS. Other services do not deliver to Philmont. Do not rely on “next day” service; allow at least one week.
An AT&T cell tower is located near the PTC (and most carriers have some signal). Incoming messages to the Training Center Office (575-376-2281) are delivered to your tent city staff as soon as possible. Faxing services are not available.
Wi-Fi is offered in most areas throughout Philmont Training Center. Due to Philmont’s rural location, Internet speeds may be slower than you are accustomed to.
If you wish to share materials with other participants, please bring enough copies for distribution. Philmont’s copying service is very limited.
Chaplains from the Catholic, Latter-day Saints, Jewish, and Protestant faiths conduct nightly services at Camping Headquarters at 7:00pm and are open to all participants. A non-denominational service will be held at the PTC Chapel on Sunday afternoon, and there may also be sunrise services during the summer.
The Bulletin Board
Watch the bulletin board! It is a great place to find out what is going on at PTC. Family group schedules, sign-up sheets, and basic information about Philmont activities are available. It is also a great place for families and friends to meet before heading off to eat, hike, or tour.
The bulletin board is immediately behind the PTC office on the Greensward.
Lost and Found
There are several locations for lost and found items. The first place to check is your tent city office, then the Quartermaster Office at the PTC.
Health and Safety
Philmont provides a full medical staff at Philmont’s licensed infirmary in the north section of the Camping Headquarters area during the summer. The infirmary has doctors, nurses, and medics on duty around the clock for emergencies. Should you or your family need assistance, you can go directly to the infirmary or contact the Training Center office.
Keep in mind that PTC is at 6,600 feet elevation. People coming from lower altitudes may experience some discomfort at first. Humidity is low, so visitors should drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. People who are overweight, out of shape, or who have health concerns should consult a physician before coming to Philmont. While the conferences and family programs are not strenuous, some walking and physical activity is necessary. Learn more about different recommendations for Philmont participants with medical conditions here.
