Spend 14 days living and working in Philmont’s high country as part of the Philmont Conservation Department. TCT is designed to teach participants how to plan and facilitate conservation projects in their local communities. Participants spend one week working with Philmont Conservation Staff to construct backcountry hiking trail and learning the skills needed to be successful on their trek, which takes place the second week. Crew members are expected to work hard and question the how and why of the world around them in order to learn as much as possible during their time at the Ranch.

Trail Crew Trek (TCT) is a 14-day co-ed program focused on conservation project facilitation and personal leadership development. Participants will spend the first week at a remote backcountry work site learning the hard skills needed to design and construct hiking trail. After the work week, the crew will depart from the work site for a one-week backcountry trek. Throughout the duration of the program, participants will gain experience and learn the soft skills needed to plan and facilitate a project outside of Philmont. The TCT program teaches these skills not only through the physical work, but also through lessons and events with Conservation professionals from Philmont and the surrounding area. TCT provides a strong foundation for any Scout interested in conducting any type of project at the local level.
