What To Bring For Winter Adventure

Packing

  • Pack with padded hip belt (rental available)
  • Capacity: external frame 4000 cu in +/-
  • Internal frame 4800 cu +/-
  • *Pack cover waterproof nylon
  • *6 to 12 (gallon size) Ziploc plastic bags to pack clothes

Sleeping

  • Sleeping bag in stuff sack lined with plastic bag
  • *Straps to hold sleeping bag on pack 
  • *Foam sleeping pad ( closed cell or Therma-Rest) 

Clothing

  • *One stocking cap
  • *One facemask (balaclava) 
  • *Two pairs of mittens (preferably wool) 
  • *One pair of glove liner (polypropylene) 
  • *One pair of windproof glove shells 
  • Two wool or polar fleece sweaters/jackets 
  • *Windproof jacket, preferably hooded
  • *Two sets of polypropylene underwear (tops and bottoms) 
  • *Two or three pairs of wool socks 
  • *Two or three pairs of polypropylene liner socks 
  • One pair of wool fleece pants
  • One pair or hiking boots 

Personal Equipment

  • *Sunglasses (100% UV protection) 
  • *Insulated cup
  • *Spoon (plastic) 
  • *Toilet articles (soap, toothbrush, towel, etc.)
  • *Sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher)
  • *One or two 1-quart water bottles or canteens
  • *Sleeping bag (zero-degree rating or lower; preferably not down-filled) 
  • *Full-length insulated sleeping pad 
  • Lip balm
